A few years back, I got the opportunity to help raise a service dog named Tag. Which is short for Partager. A French word meaning “to share”. Tag lives at Joint Force Headquarters in Johnston, IA. His primary handler is SSG Raymond who is enlisted with the Iowa National Guard. Tag was a friendly presence at Fort McCoy this summer, bringing the Red Bull brigade home from a combat mission in Afghanistan. He was utilized during the post-deployment mental health assessments that followed at Camp Dodge this fall, helping identify those Soldiers who have symptoms of PTSD.
On a recent trip to Des Moines, I got to see Tag, and do a photo shoot with him. We got permission from the Army and when we arrived, they were ready. However, explaining to the soldiers what we were doing should take about 30 minutes, they informed us we had 10. (insert panic stricken face here) All in all, they were great to work with and respected their time. Thank you for all you do!
