I picked up a friend of mine and said, “Hey, let’s go catch a movie at the drive-in.” Once we got there, to our surprise (wink wink), it was abandoned. Hmm… now what? Well, I guess I’m just going to have to photograph it!
Opening in the late 1950’s, the Hill-Top Drive-in was a single screen theatre that could accommodate 600 cars. Abandoned in 2001, there was talk of it reopening in 2007 but that time has come and gone.
- Possibly the last film ever shown here, Shanghai Noon (2000). This particular film had a set of 6 reels. Whatever this is probably helped organize the film.
- Projector room. The round shelfs held the films which fed the projectors.
- The two projectors. The one on the right is the original projector dated 1958. The one on the left called “Christie” looks to be from the 1960’s.
