As some of you know, I have a love/hate relationship with the moon. I love it when it cooperates, and hate it when it doesn’t. And over the weekend, the score ended up being Moon=2, Steve=1. Well played super moon. Well played. While the weather played a factor Saturday and Sunday night, the one chance I got was Sunday morning at around 5:30am which was technically the Super Moon. And I got my shot. Equipped with my usual gear, I also added a Canon 600mm lens which proved to be way to powerful from my vantage point. So I switched to my 70-200mm which worked out well.
Here are a couple of behind the scenes shots. The first one taken with the iPhone looking down the barrel of the 600mm. And the second shot shows just how big that 600mm is.

Wow!! I was wondering if you went Moon Hunting over the weekend, and I’m so glad you did! Great photos, Steve, as always. Each night leading up to the “Big Night,” I kept checking to see how much bigger the moon was getting–I always love it when moonlight is so bright that it casts clearly seen shadows! xo Meridy
